Impressions

I saw the play Impressions on Saturday in NYC. Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen at the Schoenfeld Theatre. Lots of beautiful paintings, love right in front you, and a joyful ending.

waking up

People might say, "Have you found Jesus?" or "Have you received God." or something like that.

Now, I see it more like waking up from a dream were you thought you were alone. More accurately, I don't think we find God or that he finds us. I think we realize he's there. (Not that God is a "he".) We dawn to the conception, and also to the experience, of a Reality we didn't accept or encounter before. And then we realize God really is everywhere, holding it altogether, and we were either too childish, or too blind to see it. God is not something we get to hold in our hand, or even in our mind all that well–receive or acquire–it's a journey of consciousness. Awakening. (And a gift of grace.) And it is a continual progression into deeper levels. Especially if we can be brave.

Back in the day, they thought Noah was crazy. Johan Huibers in the Netherlands is getting similar reactions. Like Noah, he thinks he's on a mission from God. His ark replica (scale model) is 3/4 of a football field long, and he offers rides along the local canals.

In England they throw desserts

English Business Secretary was smacked with green custard. Very nice. Why don't we do this in the U.S.A.? Do we take food too seriously? What dessert items should be tossed toward U.S. Tres. Sec. Geithner? Banana Creme pie perhaps? Any ideas?

Yanni called-he wants his hair back

What's with the hair? Terror detainee Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri is pictured here. Washington Post articleby Carrie Johnson details the change in court status of terrorist Ali Saleh Kahlah who is accused of conspiracy in planning terroristic acts on Americans. Saleh Kahlah is not accused of " visual hair terror inflicted on others" though, as many may assume, but the grooming police, I suspect, will be on the scene soon. It may be concluded that Yanni would be proud of him for his tresses.

chips in cars: no, these don't go with salsa, they track milage

Apparently PA is nearing the stage of Oregon, Mass. and others as Gov. Rendell wants to tax people per mile, not per gallon. This requires cars to have chips put in them. This also means anyone who shelled out money to save money and the environment with a fuel efficient vehicle gets the shaft. It seems that taxes will create the opposite of what they intend. The state needs the money they thrive on more than they want to "save the planet" (conserve resources) and encourage responsibility. They will always find a way to pick pockets. So will fuel efficient car sales go down? Of course. Why not buy the car with power and performance--the gas hog. It's too expensive not to. But what about the big brother watching thing? Creepy.
